What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure designed to remove localized fat deposits that may remain despite diet, exercise, or weight loss. Rather than serving as a weight-loss procedure, liposuction focuses on reshaping specific areas of the body to create smoother proportions and more defined contours.
At SNU, Dr. Yoo Jeong Weon creates an individualized liposuction plan based on your anatomy, fat distribution, skin quality and desired result. Treatment may focus on a single area or combine several areas for more comprehensive body contouring.

Liposuction vs. 360° Liposuction
Targeted Liposuction
Designed for one or several localized areas where stubborn fat affects the body’s contour. This may include the arms, abdomen, flanks, thighs, back, chin, or other selected areas.
360° Liposuction
A more comprehensive approach that treats the abdomen, waist, flanks, and back to contour the torso from multiple angles. Rather than focusing only on the stomach, 360° liposuction aims to create a smoother transition around the entire waistline.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Stubborn Fat
You have localized fat deposits that remain despite maintaining a relatively stable weight.
Good Skin Elasticity
Your skin has sufficient elasticity to adapt to the newly contoured area.
Body Contouring
You want improved proportions or definition in specific areas rather than significant overall weight loss
Stable Weight
You are at or reasonably close to a weight you can maintain.
Liposuction or Skin Removal?
Liposuction removes fat. It does not remove significant loose skin.
For patients with good skin elasticity, liposuction alone may create a smoother and more defined contour. However, patients with significant loose or hanging skin may achieve a better result from a skin-removal procedure such as a tummy tuck, arm lift, or thigh lift with or without liposuction. During consultation, Dr. Yoo evaluates both fat volume and skin quality before recommending the appropriate procedure.

Mostly excess fat → Liposuction

Fat + significant loose arm skin → Arm Lift OR Liposuction

Fat + significant loose abdominal skin → Tummy Tuck + Liposuction

Fat + significant loose thigh skin → Thigh Lift ± Liposuction
Your Personalized Body Contouring Plan
1- Targeted Liposuction
For isolated areas requiring focused fat removal.
2- 360° Liposuction
For comprehensive contouring around the abdomen, waist, flanks and back.
3- Liposuction + Skin Removal
May be combined with tummy tuck, arm lift or thigh lift when loose skin is also present.
4- Liposuction + Fat Transfer
When appropriate, harvested fat may be processed and transferred to another area to enhance volume and proportion.
Why Choose
Dr. Yoo?
Precision Liposuction for Different Areas
Liposuction is not performed the same way in every area of the body. Dr. Yoo selects the appropriate cannula size and technique based on the treatment area, fat distribution, and the degree of precision required.
Fine Cannula Liposuction
For smaller or more delicate areas where precise contouring is important, Dr. Yoo uses a fine cannula to carefully remove fat and refine the surrounding contours
Standard Cannula Liposuction
For larger treatment areas or areas with greater fat volume, a standard liposuction cannula may be used for efficient fat removal while shaping the overall body contour. In procedures involving multiple areas, different cannula sizes may be used during the same surgery to achieve the appropriate balance of fat removal and detailed contouring.
Your Surgery Journey
Step-by-Step International Care

1. Consultation
Dr. Yoo evaluates your treatment areas, skin elasticity, fat distribution and desired contours.

5. Follow-Up
Dr. Yoo and the medical team monitor your healing during scheduled postoperative appointments.

6. Return Home
Once cleared, international patients can return home with continued postoperative guidance.
Recovery Timeline
What to Expect During Your Healing Process
First Few Days
Swelling, bruising and soreness are expected. Light walking is encouraged.
Week 1
Most patients gradually return to normal daily activities while swelling continues to decrease.
Weeks 2–3
Walk with assistance and begin light movement.
Weeks 4–8
Contours become increasingly visible as swelling subsides. Exercise can gradually resume following Dr. Yoo’s approval.
Following Months
The treated areas continue to settle and the final contour becomes more apparent as residual swelling resolves.
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear Answers to Common Pre- & Post-Op Questions
Is liposuction a weight-loss procedure?
No. Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure designed to remove localized areas of stubborn fat and improve body shape and proportion. It is not intended as a treatment for significant weight loss.
How much fat can be removed?
The amount of fat that can be safely removed varies depending on your body, treatment areas, overall health, and whether other procedures are being performed at the same time. Dr. Yoo will determine the appropriate amount during your consultation.
Can I have several areas treated at once?
Yes. Multiple areas can often be treated during the same surgery. The number and extent of areas will depend on your individual treatment plan and what can be performed safely.
What is 360° liposuction?
360° liposuction contours the torso from multiple angles by treating areas such as the abdomen, waist, flanks, and back. This creates a more balanced contour around the entire midsection rather than focusing on one area alone.
Will liposuction tighten loose skin?
Liposuction removes excess fat but does not remove significant loose skin. Patients with considerable skin laxity may benefit from combining liposuction with a tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift, or another skin-removal procedure.
Can liposuction be combined with a tummy tuck?
Yes. Liposuction is commonly combined with a tummy tuck when appropriate to remove stubborn fat while the tummy tuck addresses excess skin and, when necessary, separated abdominal muscles.
Can the removed fat be transferred to another area?
Yes. When appropriate, fat removed through liposuction may be processed and transferred to areas such as the buttocks or breasts. Whether fat transfer is suitable depends on the amount and quality of available fat and your desired result.
Will the fat come back after liposuction?
Fat cells removed through liposuction do not grow back. However, remaining fat cells can increase in size with future weight gain, so maintaining a relatively stable weight helps preserve your results.
How long should I stay in Korea?
The recommended stay depends on the number of areas treated, the extent of surgery and your individual recovery. Patients should plan to stay in Korea for at least 5 days after surgery, with some patients requiring up to 14 days. Dr. Yoo and our medical team will recommend the appropriate length of stay based on your surgical plan.
When can I exercise again?
Light walking is encouraged during early recovery. More strenuous exercise should be resumed gradually after Dr. Yoo confirms that you are healing appropriately.
Will I need to wear a compression garment?
Yes. A compression garment is generally worn after liposuction to support the treated areas and help manage postoperative swelling. The length of time will depend on your procedure and recovery.

Augmentation Rhinoplasty
This procedure raises the bridge of the nose using implants, while the tip is defined through the use of a cartilage graft. The overall facial dimension, nasal bone height, and nasal bone width is determined carefully during consultation in order to ensure a natural-looking, proportional nose is produced. In rhinoplasty, silicone is often used due to its flexible properties, which make it easy to contour and shape the nose. Additionally, silicone also provides the advantage of being easily removable.
At SNU we provide strong support to the nasal tip by using ear cartilages to shape the nasal tip. Ear cartilages are soft structures that support the new shape of the nose while reducing the tension formation at the tip.

Tip Plasty
Bulbous Nose
The main goal of the bulbous nose correction is to reduce the size of the nasal tip by removing excess soft tissues. The surgical techniques include repositioning the nasal cartilages to reduce the size of the nose, support the nasal tip using the patient’s own cartilage (ear/septal), and remove excess soft tissue. Ear cartilages may be placed to shape the nasal tip. Through bulbous nose correction, a more refined and sophisticated nasal tip can be achieved.
Broad and Flat Nasal Tip
The broad and flat nasal tip can be corrected through repositioning the nasal tip cartilages. By repositioning the cartilages that shape the nostrils, the size of the flared nostrils can be changed, and the angle of the nose can be corrected. Using the patient’s own cartilage (ear/septal) may be utilized to help support the nasal tip and heightening the tip.

Hump Nose | Deviated Nose
The hump correction involves two important steps: smoothen out the nose bridge, and elevating the drooping nose tip to obtain the harmonious and ideal nose shape. In order to achieve the first step, the protruding portion may be shaved. In some cases, silicone implants can be inserted to elevate the dorsum. The droopy tip can be corrected through modifying the nasal cartilages and by using ear cartilages.
